Building a Fair Future for NL Workers

Greetings!

The Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Labour (NLFL) is proud to announce a groundbreaking Just Transition Conference that will help shape the future of work in our province.

What is a Just Transition?

A just transition means ensuring that as our economy shifts away from carbon-intensive industries, workers and communities are not left behind. It means:

  • Good union jobs in emerging green sectors;
  • Fully funded retraining and upskilling programs;
  • Income support during transitions;
  • Worker voices leading the planning process

We cannot afford to let history repeat itself in our province – we need to start planning for our future now. This time, workers will be at the table from day one.

Conference Highlights

  • Launch of the Just Transition Declaration calling on government to act
  • Presentations from leading just transition experts from across Canada and internationally
  • Worker-led breakout sessions and discussion
  • Research findings on the future of our economy and transition best practices
  • Policy recommendations for government and industry
  • Building solidarity with fellow union members and allies
